Erie Colorado Moms Fight to Keep Encana Well Away From School Kids

Brave Colorado mothers fight to protect their backyards and schoolyards
Erie Rising is a grassroots, mom-powered organization, founded by a group of brave mothers, who were not afraid to stand strong as oil and gas operations threatened their children’s health and safety.
Established in 2011, Erie Rising found solid-footing as awareness heightened over eight new wells planned for hydraulic fracturing adjacent to the two of the community’s elementary schools, the middle school and two preschools. In a few short months, Erie Rising has been credited for bringing brush-fire awareness to natural gas dangers in their community, to local government, and to unaware moms and dads.
On June 2, 2012 the mothers and families of Erie Rising will stand strong to Rally against Encana Oil and Gas, in a last ditch effort stop the wells from being drilled next to the majority of the community’s young population. Help us to support Erie Rising in their efforts, in person or for a virtual rally, by visiting them online. Though this well pad may be next to their schools, if you live on a shale deposit, yours child’s school could very well be next.
Erie Rising has been remarkably effective on many fronts. From a powerful beginning with an overnight call-to-action for the largest community gathering on record at the Town Hall, to remarkably discovering an unknown NOAA study revealing the air in Erie, CO had 10x the amount of Propane and Butane and elevated Benzene; Erie Rising has been acknowledged with gratitude from parents and elected officials alike.
The Mom-Team of Erie Rising has remained persistent and continued to bring significant awareness and necessary change in regards to NGD; from speaking at the capitol, to collaborating with experts and organizations, Erie Rising continues to grow in numbers as more parents become informed.
